Things to do in and around Coverack

Terence Coventry Sculpture Park. Terence sadly passed away a few years ago, (terence-coventry-obituary)  Entrance is free of charge , however there is a donation box.

Turn right out of Corner College towards the pub. Sharp right up School Hill to Sunny Corner past the Coast Guards Cottages (cottages on the right, allotments on the left). Don't turn left on to the coastal path, bear right and take the steps. Continue across a field. You will come to a very old thatched farm house and then a very tidy bungalow. Immediately after the bungalow you will see a sign on the right. Take the path and just keep walking through the woods, past a field that usually has 3 cows, so dogs on leads.

On another occasion take the sign for the coastal path out to Chynalls Point. Go through the gate to the end of the headland. The wild ponies that are sometimes on the headland are very tame. You can also drop down to Mears Beach, which is a sandy cove and not very busy.

There are stunning views along the South West Coastal Path. The path runs right out side our door,  turn left or right and just keep walking. If you are a keen walker. Walk to Helford Village along the Coastal Path - stop off at Fat Apples for a late breakfast or early lunch and dinner at the Shipwrights. Taxi back. Alternatively, turn right, picnic lunch on the way and dinner at the Cadgwith Cove Inn. Taxi back.

A less challenging walk St Keverne to Porthoustock/Porthallow. The walk to Porthoustock follows a wooded valley to the beach for a longer and circular walk continue to Porthallow.

Coverack Wind Surfing School where you can also hire Paddle Boards and Kayaks.

Roskilly’s Farm.

Trevassack Lake, owned and run by the charity The Children’s Sailing Trust.

  • Lizard Point - Furthest point south - Uk Mainland.

  • Cadgwith Cove. Cadgwith Cove Inn. Cadgwith Singers in the pub on Friday evenings.

  • Kynance Cove - stunning- reported as one of the best beaches in the world. Go for lunch. Really good National Trust Cafe.

  • Kennack Sands. Turn right from Corner Cottage and walk the coastal path for approx 5 miles.

  • Mullion Cove

  • Gunwalloe Beach and Church Cove.

  • Helford River, lunch at the Holy Mackerel

  • Helford Passage - take the ferry from the village of Helford. Ferry Boat Inn for lunch or dinner

  • Falmouth - lovely shops and Maritime Museum

  • Take the ferry from Falmouth to St. Mawes for lunch - great pubs and restaurants. Or the King Harry Ferry.

  • Flambards in Helston, a must if you have kids. It also has a victorian village, good for a rainy day perhaps.

  • Minack Theatre. An hour away towards Landsend. A stunning outdoor theatre carved into the rocks looking over a beautiful sea and beach.

  • St. Michael’s Mount.

  • Marizion- art galleries

  • Trebah Garden - this is a must.

  • Penrose Estate- walk from the car park to Loe Bar Beach. (Read all about it).

  • St. Micheal’s Resort hydro pool in Falmouth.

There are stunning views along all of the South West Coastal Path. Taxi back.

2 of my favourite days out.

A trip on the Helford river. helfordrivercruises.co.uk. There are other companies but this is the best one as the boatman is very interesting and the boat is small, so can get into all the little creeks. You need to book.  If the boat leaves early (depends on the tides), consider having breakfast at the Budock Vean Hotel, which is where you take the boat from.

Park the car at St Lelant Train Station . Walk the coastal path to St. Ives (lunch at Pothminster Cafe. Take the very scenic train journey back from St. Ives to Lelant. Check train times as the trains don’t always stop at Lelant.
